The pharmaceutical industry is undergoing a digital transformation through the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies. Among these innovations, Digital Twin (DT) technology has emerged as a powerful tool for improving manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and regulatory compliance. A digital twin is a virtual representation of a physical system that continuously receives and analyzes real-time data from manufacturing processes. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, digital twins enable process simulation, predictive maintenance, quality monitoring, risk assessment, and process optimization. This review discusses the concept, architecture, applications, benefits, challenges, and future prospects of digital twins in pharmaceutical manufacturing and quality assurance.
