ABSTRACT

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND NANOPARTICLES IN SMART DRUG DELIVERY: EMERGING TRENDS AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS

Asthaa Navlani, Anvesh Davak*, Sandhya Mourya, Parash Tomar, Dr. Navneet Garud

By facilitating the creation of intelligent nanocarriers with improved precision, safety, and therapeutic efficacy, artificial intelligence (AI) and nanotechnology are revolutionizing the field of smart medication delivery. The clinical performance of conventional drug delivery systems is frequently limited by their poor bioavailability, non-specific tissue distribution, quick drug breakdown, and systemic toxicity. A promising approach to overcoming these obstacles through predictive formulation design, physicochemical property optimization, and customized therapeutic interventions is provided by the convergence of AI with nanoparticle-based delivery systems. The design and optimization of various nanoparticle systems, such as lipid-based nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, liposomes, niosomes, dendrimers, hydrogels, and inorganic nanocarriers for targeted and stimuli-responsive drug delivery, are all rigorously examined in this review. Additionally, the design of nanoparticles, drug loading optimization, release kinetics prediction, toxicity evaluation, and precision medicine are examined in relation to contemporary developments in machine learning, deep learning, and explainable artificial intelligence. While addressing present issues with regulatory approval, data quality, algorithm transparency, large-scale manufacturing, and clinical translation, the review also highlights new biomedical applications in cancer therapy, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, gene therapy, and vaccine delivery. In order to expedite the development of next-generation nanomedicines, future prospects highlight the integration of digital twins, autonomous formulation platforms, multimodal biological datasets, and explainable AI. A paradigm shift toward intelligent, patient-centric medication delivery systems that can enhance therapeutic results and advance precision healthcare is represented by the intersection of AI and nanotechnology.
