DRUG SAFETY EVALUATION IN SPECIAL POPULATION

Pharmacovigilance is the scientific discipline that focuses on the detection , assessment , understanding , and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug related problems. It plays a crucial role in e nsuring the safety and efficacy of medications throughout their lifecycle, particularly after they have been approved for use by regulatory authorities. While the primary goal of pharmacovigilance is to detect and understand adverse drug reactions (ADRs), it also includes the broader task of improving public health by ensuring that the benefits of a drug outweigh its risks . This is critical because even after a drug is marketed and widely used, new safety issues can emerge when the drug is exposed to a lar ger and more diverse population.
